Slow Braised Lamb Shank review by Kay
I have had many braised lamb shanks. This location has taken number 1. Delicate and flavorful is an understatement. I raved about it so much my girls went and said, " let me taste the hype".! " They don't disappoint, say the less. The atmosphere here is amazing and food is top notch.
Rainbow Roll review by Sagar
The jumbo lump blue crab paired beautifully with the creamy avocado, while the salmon belly and tuna belly melted in every bite. The spicy mayo and eel sauce tied it all together with just the right kick and sweetness. Absolutely delicious!
Chicken Gyoza
I had the best time last Friday. The food and drinks were great - the DJ was awesome. I can't wait to come back. I headed to the website to see if there was a DJ set every Friday... But I'll go look on Instagram.
Red Dragon Roll review by Conjure1up
Had an amazing experience at zooz last night! Service was excellent despite the fact they had a huge party going on.
Short Rib review by Damariajoyner
If you are looking for an elevated date night with social lounge energy Zooz is the spot. I came across this place on tik tok and the ambiance and service exceeded my expectations. The sort rib is the perfect entree and I paired it with a French 75. Exceptional food and service!
Guacamole and Chips review by Nadyawutoh
I loved the chips and guac! My homegirl and I had great time with drinks and guac, and the vibes in here. Great girls' night spot.
A5 Wagyu review by Rafaelbush91
ZooZ – A5 Wagyu Roll Review If you're walking into ZooZ in DC thinking you're about to get "just another sushi roll," let me save you the trouble this isn't that. The A5 Wagyu Roll is not a menu item. It's a flex. From the moment it hits the table, presentation sets the tone. The roll arrives sliced into thick, generous pieces, each crowned with seared A5 Wagyu that glistens under the ambient lighting. A delicate brush of eel sauce is drizzled in intentional strokes across the plate not messy, not overdone just enough to frame the roll like artwork. And then there's the gold leaf dusting. Subtle. Strategic. Luxurious. It doesn't scream for attention; it whispers exclusivity. The marbling on the Wagyu is what immediately stands out. You can see the intramuscular fat rendered just enough to create that glossy sheen without overcooking the meat. That's a hard balance to strike and they nailed it. The sear adds a slight caramelized edge while preserving that signature A5 tenderness. The roll itself is tightly constructed no loose rice, no collapse when picked up with chopsticks. Structurally sound sushi is underrated, but it matters. Especially when you're stacking premium beef on top. The first bite is layered. • The Wagyu melts almost instantly buttery, rich, and slightly sweet. • The rice is seasoned properly not overly vinegared, not bland. • There's a subtle crunch from the interior (likely cucumber or tempura flakes) that gives contrast against the softness of the beef. • The eel sauce provides umami depth without overpowering the natural flavor of the Wagyu. What impressed me most is restraint. A5 Wagyu can easily dominate a dish, but here it's balanced. Nothing competes with it everything supports it. That's intentional menu engineering This roll doesn't chew it dissolves. The fat from the Wagyu coats the palate briefly, then fades clean instead of lingering heavy. That's the mark of quality A5. It leaves you wanting the next piece, not needing a break. Paired with a sip of chilled sake, it elevates the experience even more. The sake cuts through the richness and resets your palate perfectly between bites. A5 Wagyu isn't cheap and it shouldn't be. But when you order it, you expect craftsmanship. ZooZ delivers on that expectation. This isn't a gimmick roll with beef thrown on top for shock value. It feels curated. In a city like DC where sushi spots are competitive, this roll stands out because it commits to luxury without sacrificing technique. The A5 Wagyu Roll at ZooZ is indulgent, balanced, and executed with precision. It's for people who appreciate texture, temperature control, and ingredient integrity. If you're celebrating something or just moving like you are this is the roll you order.
Chef's Sushi Menu
I absolutely LOVE ZOOZ! This was my first time here. We visited over the holidays, and the place was busy with great vibes. We ordered almost everything on the menu, but my favorite was the sushi! The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and kind, and they were especially thoughtful about our food allergy. I also met one of the managers, Aaron — he delivered our drinks and really made sure we had a great night. The entire staff went above and beyond. Thank you so much for such a wonderful night with my friends!
